Music at Countryside Church
Music plays an important role and regularly enhances worship services with openings or introits for the service and anthems. A professional pianist not only accompanies hymn singing but provides for transitional periods of reflection.

On June 27, 2010, choir member J.Weprin led a worship service on Music Spirituality. A few church members shared what music means to them as part of this worship service. Click on names below to access these music affirmations:

Countryside Church Choir
The choir serves its primary purpose of enhancing worship by performing in the regular Sunday worship services of the church, in special services such as Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, Memorial, etc., and in other commemorative and special calendar events as they occur

Choir Rehearsal

Additionally, the choir has performed major works with guest soloists in concert with piano, chamber ensemble and/or orchestral accompaniment. In past seasons the following are a few examples of the concert repertoire that have been performed: The Peaceable Kingdom (Randall Thompson); Messiah (G.F. Handel); Gloria (A. Vivaldi); Requiem (G. Faure); various concert masses and cantatas by Mozart, Schubert and Bach; Liebeslieder Waltzes, (J. Brahms); In Praise of Music, (P. Hindemith); and shorter works by Aaron Copland, Kirke Mechem, Lloyd Pfautsch, Claude Debussy and Leonard Bernstein.

Rehearsals are most Thursdays from 7:15 PM to 9:15 PM and Sunday prior to the worship service.

Friday mUUsic @ CCUU:

1st Fridays @ 7:30pm Singing Meditation: Find a stillness at the end of your hectic workweek. In our meditation, faciliated singing and silence combine to create a calming and powerful spiritual experience.

2nd Fridays @ 7:30pm Drum Circle: Come drum with us! Bring a hand percussion instrument (and an extra if you can) and feel the flow of energy and enthusiasm surround you as you drum in a group. (We will have a few extra instruments on hand for those who have none, but we can't guarantee availability.) This is a great way to release tension and nurture your primal creative spirit.

3rd Fridays @ 7pm Song Circle: Bring your instrument (or just lend your voice) and some tunes to share, and let's have fun making music! Our emphasis is on sharing the experience rather than on performing.
